Overview:

GIANT is a cooperative strategy board game for 2-4 players, designed by Reiner Knizia. The game simulates the growth and expansion of a civilization, as players compete to develop their own empires while simultaneously contributing to the advancement of the shared society.

Gameplay:

The game is played on a modular board consisting of hexagonal tiles, each representing a different type of terrain. Players take turns placing their giant meeples on the board, claiming territories and building structures. The meeples can be used to explore the board, gather resources, construct buildings, or attack opponents.

Resources and Buildings:

There are three main resources in GIANT: wood, stone, and metal. These resources are used to construct buildings, which provide various benefits to the players. Buildings can generate resources, provide military advantages, or enhance the capabilities of the giant meeples.

Technology and Advancements:

As players progress through the game, they can advance their civilization's technology level. This allows them to unlock new types of buildings and units, as well as gain access to special abilities. Advancements are made by completing certain tasks, such as building specific structures or exploring certain areas of the board.

Diplomacy and Conflict:

While cooperation is encouraged in GIANT, conflict is also inevitable. Players can attack each other's meeples and structures to gain territory or resources. However, excessive aggression can damage the shared society and hinder the progress of all players.

Winning the Game:

The game ends when one of three conditions is met:

* Military Dominance: A player controls the majority of the territories on the board.

* Technological Supremacy: A player advances their civilization to the highest technology level.

* Shared Prosperity: All players have reached a certain level of prosperity, as determined by their resource production and building construction.
