History
KCTV5 first went on the air in 1953 as WDAF-TV. The station was originally owned by the Kansas City Star Company, which also owned the Kansas City Star newspaper. In 1986, WDAF-TV was sold to Gannett Company. In 2013, Gannett sold the station to Gray Television.
