The classic IP may be restarted! "Dinosaur Crisis" peripheral products raid the Japanese market
Recently, Capcom suddenly launched a new peripheral product line of the "Dinosaur Crisis" series in Japan, which triggered enthusiastic speculation among players about the possible remake of the IP. This limited set of products includes acrylic stands, keychains, table mats, stickers and classic LOGO hoodies, etc., and will be sold through lottery until September 12. More than twenty years have passed since the last work of the series, "Dinosaur Crisis 3" (2003), and the surrounding release is regarded by fans as a precursor to the series' resurrection.
In the "Most Hope Resurrection IP" investigation initiated by Capcom in early 2024, "Dinosaur Crisis" and "Reversal Referee" and "Mega Man" jointly ranked among the top players' voting. Although series founder Shinji Mikami has said that the success of Monster Hunter may hinder the IP’s reboot, fans generally believe that the two are very different - the former is a survival horror game closer to Resident Evil.
In May, Hideki Kamiya publicly expressed her willingness to direct the new work, but she is fully committed to the development of the sequel to "The Great God". With Resident Evil: Requiem scheduled for 2026, players' attention will naturally turn to other candidate IPs in this survey. Although Capcom has not made an official statement yet, the continued high voices of players and sudden surrounding actions seem to imply that this dusty "dinosaur theme park" may reopen to welcome guests.
