Danger warning! PS official reminder: There is a risk of electric shock when touching PS5 on thunderstorms!

Aug 25 2025

Recently, the official pointed out that lightning may cause damage to game consoles and power cords such as PS4 and PS5. In case of thunderstorms, players are advised to turn off the host and unplug the power cord immediately. During thunderstorms, contact with the host and wire should be avoided to prevent the risk of electric shock.

Previously, PlayStation also issued a reminder on host cleaning, suggesting that players clean up dust for PS5 regularly. When some high-load games or applications are running, the cooling fan sound of the PS5 console may increase significantly compared to usual, which is a normal phenomenon, indicating that the fan is increasing the speed to optimize the system cooling.

To ensure the heat dissipation effect, it is necessary to note that the ventilation holes on the sides and back of the host must not be blocked. It is recommended to keep at least 10 cm of space around the host. It is also necessary to avoid placing the host in a velvet carpet or in a tight space. In addition, the ventilation holes and surroundings need to be kept clean to avoid dust accumulation.

For safety reasons, be sure to disconnect the AC power cord behind the PS5 before cleaning.
