Warner Bros. Games are fully reorganized! In the future, we will focus on four core IPs

Jun 19 2025

According to Variety Show, Warner Bros. Games is undergoing a comprehensive reorganization, and will focus on four core IPs in the future: Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter, DC Universe and Game of Thrones.

Reported that this adjustment will involve changes in senior positions, but will not cause layoffs or the resignation of current executives. Instead, the company promoted three key executives to support the gaming department in the concentration of these more reliable and long-term brands.

Yves Lachance, head of the Warner Montreal Studios (WB Games Montreal), was appointed as "Senior Vice President of Development" to be responsible for projects related to "Harry Potter" and "Game of Thrones".

Shaun Himmerick of NetherRealm Studios will also serve as "Senior Vice President of Development", focusing on Mortal Kombat and DC Universe projects.

Steven Flenory of Warner New York Studios was promoted to "Senior Vice President of Central Technology and Services", coordinating game technology, distribution tools, customer service, quality assurance, and user research.

J.B. Perrette, CEO of Warner Bros. Global Streaming and Games Division, said in a statement:

"We have some of the most popular entertainment brands in the world, so we are optimizing our team structure to create a long-term development blueprint for games such as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Mortal Kombat and DC, and continue to surprise players and fans.

We are very lucky that we have strong development and technical talents in our team, and Yves, Shaun and Steven are highly respected and outstanding leaders in their respective fields. I look forward to working closely with them to push these core IPs to new heights."

This reorganization is at a time when Warner Bros. Games started badly in 2025, and may become the key to its turnaround. Previously, on January 23, the head of the game department David Haddad was revealed to be resigning due to a series of failed projects, including the disastrous release of "Suicide Squad: Kill Justice League" and the backlash of "The Multiverse Fight".

The more serious blow came in February this year, when Warner announced that it would close Monolith Productions, Player First Games and Warner San Diego Studios, and cancel the originally planned Wonder Woman game development.

In fact, the restructuring direction announced today is the strategic continuation that Warner Bros had laid as early as the end of last year. At that time, the company publicly admitted that its gaming business was "far from achieving its due potential" and said it would be heavily betting on top IPs such as "Legend of Hogwarts", "Mortal Kombat" and "Game of Thrones", and DC characters such as "Batman" were also named as core resources.
