"Marvel Contest" may be launched on the PS4 platform! It is expected to be launched in the fourth season
According to game files uploaded to Sony servers, "Marvel Contest" may be ported to the PlayStation 4 platform as soon as it will be launched in mid-September. However, the developer NetEase Games has not officially confirmed this cross-platform plan.
Since this team shooting game was officially launched in December 2024, NetEase has expressed its hope to port "Marvel Contest" to the Switch2 platform as soon as possible to meet players' expectations for Nintendo's new console. But similar to other third-party developers, NetEase has confirmed that it has not yet obtained the Switch2 development kit provided by Nintendo as of July 2025. Even if the development tools are successfully obtained, the transplant process will take several months to complete.
While NetEase continues to discuss cross-platform matters with all parties, there are rumors that this game may be reverse ported to the previous generation of consoles. Twitter account PlayStation Game Size revealed that "Marvel Contest" may be available on the PS4 platform as early as the fourth season, which will arrive on September 12. The game file that is said to be marked "version 01.01" has appeared on Sony's server recently, and the update instructions mention the content of the fourth season. Although details of the new season have not been released yet, rumors of Deadpool characters joining the game have been spread on social media, according to leaked voice clips.
As of now, NetEase has not confirmed the PS4 version development plan, and all rumors still need to be viewed with caution. However, considering the installed capacity of PS4 exceeding 117 million units, transplantation may boost game popularity - the number of players on the Steam platform has dropped by about 86% since its peak in January. In response to rumors of PS4 transplantation, players are worried about the performance of the game developed by Unreal Engine 5 on old-generation consoles, especially the risk of overheating. Whether all this will come true may be clear in the next few weeks.
