"Old Man Ring"'s new work is matched abnormally online. Official: Pause and retry updates on Saturday

May 31 2025

After the release of FromSoftware's new work "Eldon Flying, Night King" has continued to experience multiple-player online matching problems.

According to player feedback data, about 37% of online requests encountered "unlimited wait", with an average matching time of more than 8 minutes, but the overall server operation was stable. The development team responded on official Twitter that the problem stems from the defect of the session priority algorithm across generations online, and suggested that players "re-initiate the request after canceling the current match."

Since the game does not support full-platform interoperability (only internal interoperability of PS4/PS5 or Xbox devices), the larger player base of PSN platforms makes the stability of the matching pool more susceptible to individual players' exits. The actual data shows that when a player cancels the match, the system takes an average of 90 seconds to recalculate the teaming logic of the remaining players.

FromSoftware confirms that the single player mode can fully experience the game content, and said that it will release an update patch in the first week of June to fix the multiplayer online stability issue.
