Microsoft XGP's annual revenue data is disclosed! Executives reveal that they made $2 billion a year
How much does Xbox Game Pass make? We have been able to learn some information from the side intermittently, and now, we have more data.
Former Xbox product director Richie Chaudhary said in his LinkedIn profile that between 2019 and 2021, Xbox Game Pass generated about $2 billion in revenue each year.
Previously, Brazil's antitrust investigation agency CADE disclosed a report when approving Microsoft's acquisition of Blizzard in 2022, revealing that Microsoft's annual revenue in game subscription system was about US$2.9 billion (this information was later deleted).
Microsoft gaming director Phil Spencer also vaguely disclosed some information in an interview with the Wall Street Journal in 2022. He said that the Xbox Game Pass subscription service revenue accounts for 15% of Xbox content and service revenue, and this proportion is expected to be between 10% and 15% in the future. According to TweakTown, this figure is about $1.2 billion to $1.8 billion.
The reason for this difference may be that the calculation methods of the investigation agency and Microsoft itself are different, or that of the company itself. The $2 billion is just between these two numbers, which to some extent just confirms Chaudhary's data.
