The DC Universe Restart "Superman", directed by James Gunn, is officially scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025, and its early box office forecasts have attracted industry attention. According to Box Office Theory, the film's first week's box office is expected to reach US$154 million to US$175 million, and may surpass the US$166 million DC series record of "Batman vs. Superman" and become the highest-grossing work in the first week of DC film history. This data far exceeds DC's previous works such as "Man of Steel" (116.6 million) and "Suicide Squad" (133.7 million), and even significantly leads the recent Marvel movies "The Thunder" (74.3 million) and "Captain America 4" (88.8 million).

However, compared with other Marvel movies, Superman's prediction results are still behind hits such as "Deadpool and Wolverine" (211.4 million), "Black Panther 2" (181.3 million), and "Spider-Man: Heroes No Return" (260.1 million). Another institution, The Quorum, gave a conservative estimate of $110 million to $130 million. Even so, this range is still significantly higher than the performance of DC movies such as "Black Adam" (67 million) and "The Flash" (55 million).

As a new beginning of DCU (DC Extended Universe), "Superman" shoulders the important mission of revitalizing the brand. Especially the bleak result of the previous work "Aquaman 2" was only $27.6 million in the first week, which made this restart work give the expectation of "proving the value of DCU rebirth." However, the film will face cruel summer competition: Disney's live-action version of Star Baby has won a first-week box office of US$430 million worldwide during the same period, and blockbusters such as Marvel's "Fantastic Four" and "Jurassic World: Rebirth" starring Scarlett Johnson will also appear one after another, further squeezing the market space.

Industry insiders pointed out that whether the film can break the controversy and convey the classic "superman heroism" will become the key to breaking box office expectations. In the summer of 2025, this head-on confrontation between DC and Marvel may redefine the market structure of superhero movies.
