"Mario Kart World" has exceeded 100 tracks! The whole world is a track
At the full launch of Switch 2, Nintendo announced that Mario Kart: World will introduce a "fully explorable map" system to break the limitations of traditional tracks and allow players to race freely in broad scenes, making the definition of "track" more flexible. Since the game was first released, this new work, which was originally speculated by the outside world as "Mario Kart 9", has shown a larger content scale than "Mario Kart 8". It not only supports more players in the same field, but also has a richer and more variable map than before.
According to the Game Informer report, Nintendo recently released a four-segment interview with the development team of Mario Kart: World. In the second part, game producer Yabuki Mitsuyu responded to the number of tracks: "It is difficult for us to directly compare this game with Mario Kart 8, because players can not only race on the track, but also drive freely in areas between the tracks."
He added: "If all the intermediate sections and their possible variants are included in the calculation, the total number of tracks will undoubtedly exceed 100. The whole world itself is a huge track."

Although Yabuki does not clearly specify the number of standard tracks in the traditional sense, these remarks have revealed Nintendo's new concept of map design. As for whether players agree that these variant routes belong to "real tracks", it will be announced after the game is officially released.
