iOS 26 screen recording upgrade: Support native full resolution and say goodbye to blur!

Sep 06 2025

Technology Media recently released a report saying that in the latest beta test version of iOS 26, Apple has greatly optimized the screen recording function, supporting recording at the device's native full resolution for the first time, completely solving the blur problem caused by image quality compression in the past.

It is reported that since iOS 11 first introduced the screen recording function, its output resolution has always been limited, with a maximum height or width of only 1920px, resulting in the screen being far from the actual clarity of the screen even when recorded on modern iPhone devices. For example, in the system before the update, the screen recording resolution of the iPhone 16 Pro Max was only 884×1920, about 2/3 of the real resolution of the device.

In the latest beta version of iOS 26, the screen recording resolution has been increased to 1320×2868, which fully matches the device's physical screen resolution. Judging from the published comparison pictures, the details of the picture recorded on iOS 26 Beta 6 (below) are clearer, and the text and image edges are significantly sharp, completely bidding farewell to the past fuzzy performance.

What is even more surprising is that while achieving full resolution recording, the video file volume did not increase significantly. Tests showed that a 12-second screen recording was 24.2 MB in iOS 26 Beta 6, which is only 5.3 MB more than the 18.9 MB in Beta 1 version.

In addition to the resolution improvement, iOS 26 also brings a number of new features for screenshots and screen recording, including supporting HDR recording, allowing users to disable CarPlay screenshots, and adding practical features such as "Visual Look Up".
