"Bad Gate 3" voice actors speak out. Will AI abuse ruin the gaming industry?

Recently, Samantha Beat, a British voice actor who made a voice for the character Karak in "Baldur Gate 3", publicly criticized senior executives of game companies who wantonly abused AI technology to cut costs.

Samantha Beat has made a name for himself as a result of his outstanding performance in both video games and drama. She was nominated for BAFTA for her wonderful performance in "Bad Gate 3". In addition, she also worked as a voiceover in various games such as "The Dig of Hobbarro", "Devil's Souls" and "Sullithier's Conspiracy".

In an interview with GamesRadar, Samantha Beat said sharply: "In the long run, abuse of AI will destroy their reputation and company, and everything will be ruined. Moreover, voice actors will never retreat in the struggle against AI, because retreat means that actors have voluntarily given up their jobs."

She further pointed out: "Our industry brings together a group of people full of artistic enthusiasm, who have a strong sense of mission for their work. However, those rich game companies' senior executives do not play games at all, but just treat the game industry as a way to make money easily."

Finally, Samantha Beat concluded: "Leaders of the technology industry are determined to sell the company at a high price and earn economic benefits and retire. In my opinion, today's game studios are also repeating their mistakes."

At present, many game developers around the world are using AI technology to make games, which has aroused strong opposition from many people. Among them, some people are worried that generative AI will replace jobs. Earlier, EA CEO Andrew Wilson, said that the rise of AI may lead to a decrease in jobs in the short term, but in the long run, it will eventually create more jobs like the previous industrial revolution.
