This time the vote is just the beginning? Foreign media say "GTA6" is likely to be postponed again
Recently, R Star announced that "GTA6" will be postponed to May 26, 2026. Foreign media ComicBook pointed out that although this decision disappointed players around the world, it actually conforms to R Star's consistent distribution tradition. Looking back on the development history of the past 20 years, R Star’s heavyweight works have almost all experienced at least two delays, so the possibility of "GTA6" being delayed again cannot be ignored.
Since the 2008 "Bay Shore Midnight Club: Los Angeles", R Star has shown its ultimate pursuit of game quality. This arcade-style racing game was originally scheduled to be released in early 2008, but in order to avoid the release schedule of "GTA4", it was postponed to September and was eventually postponed to October before it was officially launched. The 2010 "Red Dead Redemption" also experienced two delays, from the original end of 2009 to 2010, and then from April to May.
"Three Men and One Dog 5", as one of the highest-selling and highest-rated games in history, also experienced repeated vote recurring retries. The console version was postponed from the second quarter of 2013 to September, while the PC version was postponed three times, and it was finally officially released in April 2015.
Even the 2018 narrative peak work "Red Dead Redemption 2" has undergone two schedule adjustments, postponed from 2017 to spring 2018, and was finally scheduled for October of the same year.
Although not every R-star game will experience multiple delays, judging from these cases, the possibility of "GTA6" being postponed again is still high. After all, R Star has always adhered to the concept of "quality first", even if it means postponing the release several times.
