According to the latest Nintendo's annual shareholders' meeting Q&A record, the company's president Shuntaro Furukawa recently disclosed a new film and television plan: "We will launch an original animated film based on the "Super Mario" universe in April 2026, and bring a live-action film work in the "Legend of Zelda" series in May 2027 the following year." He further stated that in addition to the announced "Legend of Zelda" project, multiple related derivative plans are being promoted, and specific details will be disclosed at an optional date.
Talking about the IP development strategy, Shuntaro Furukawa emphasized that Nintendo will fully intervene in the film development process of all its IPs: "Our cooperation model is not simply authorization, but ensures the quality of the work by deeply participating in the production process and providing necessary investments. This full process control can ensure the final presentation of the work maintains Nintendo's consistent high standards."
