  According to the well-known technology whistleblower Moore’s Law Is Dead, Sony is developing a high-performance portable handheld phone code-named “Canis”. If it is true, this will be its second entry into the high-end handheld game field since the PS Vita, and may be launched simultaneously with the rumored PlayStation 6 (PS6).

Hardware configuration:

·Chip adopts TSMC 3nm process single-chip design (area about 135mm²)·CPU is 6-core Zen 6 architecture (4 Zen 6c cores + 2 Zen 6 LP low-power cores, sharing 4MB L3 cache)·Memory is 192-bit LPDDR5X-8533 controller, up to 48GB capacity·GPU integrated 16CU RDNA architecture, handheld mode frequency is 1.20GHz, base mode is improved to 1.65GHz

Functional features:

· Support backward compatibility of PS5/PS4 games (PS3 is not mentioned yet)· Equipped with MicroSD slot, M.2 SSD expansion, touch screen, dual microphones and touch vibration feedback· It is reported that its hardware performance will surpass known portable devices on the market (such as Xbox Ally X and Nintendo Switch 2)

Release time and correlation:

· According to reports, PS6 and Canis handheld consoles are scheduled to be launched from fall 2027 to early 2028· PS6 is expected to be equipped with an 8-core Zen 6 or higher architecture processor, enhancing power consumption optimization and cross-generation compatibility· Canis may have binary compatibility for shaders that run directly on PS5 games, and no additional adaptation is required for developers
