Take-Two sues trading platform illegally sells cheating accounts and virtual currencies

Take-Two Interactive, a well-known game publisher, has officially filed a lawsuit against an online trading market website called PlayerAuctions. It is worth noting that PlayerAuctions has been previously held legally investigated by gaming giant Rob Less. This time, Take-Two's allegations focus on the "tampered with plug-in and cheating software" game accounts, props and virtual currencies sold on the PlayerAuctions platform.

The lawsuit was formally filed in the Central District Court of California last week. Take-Two severely accused the operating company behind PlayerAuctions as an "illegal operating entity" in the lawsuit documents and claimed that it was well aware of the infringement on the platform.

The litigation document further elaborated: "PlayerAuctions is not an ordinary online trading platform. It actually operates a sophisticated and complex sales system and actively recruits 'sellers' who are good at exploiting hacking tools and game vulnerabilities to create illegal digital goods and provide gamers with illegal services."

Take-Two stressed that this behavior of PlatformAuctions "is very likely to undermine the player's gaming experience and seriously disrupt the balance and fairness of the game."

According to Take-Two, it "has submitted evidence of infringement and other violations to PlayerAuctions many times, but unfortunately, the cessation order it issued has not received the attention it deserves. The operating company behind PlayerAuctions has allegedly obtained "any millions of dollars in illegal gains" from such infringements. Therefore, Take-Two implored the court to order the closure of the online trading platform and demand compensation for copyright and trademark infringement.
