The manager of "Palu" responded to Nintendo's lawsuit: They only have patents in their eyes!
According to foreign media, at the GDC 2025 conference, John Buckley, global community manager of Pocketpair, a developer of "Phantom Beast", talked about the company's experience of being sued by Nintendo last year, accusing Paradise of "only caring about patents."
John Buckley said: "After hearing this news, the whole company was very frustrated. We conducted a legal inspection before the release of "Palu" and the game passed the review in Japan, so when we learned that Nintendo sued us, we were really confused. Then, we consulted the lawyer again, and after communicating with the court, we finally realized that Nintendo wanted a patent"
Nintendo sued Pocketpair in September last year, accusing him of infringing three patents, demanding the ban on the sale of "Poru" and claiming 5 million yen. Buckley noted that the lawsuit had a significant impact on the company, forcing them to reduce plans at the time, adjusting participation in the PS release and Tokyo Game Show, and adding security measures.
At present, the case is still under trial and no final judgment has been made.
