Zenimax submits trademark applications for four major IPs! There may be surprises for Xbox launches

May 15 2025

The new Xbox game launch conference will be held at 1 a.m. on June 9 (Beijing time). As time approaches, fans are speculating on what news may be announced at this event: the new work of "Hao"? "Perfect Dark" new information?

However, netizens discovered that Zenimax recently suddenly submitted trademark applications for the four IPs: "Shame", "Wolfenstein Headquarters", "Death Cycle" and "Thor's Hammer". The timing of this move is intriguing, because the company has no trademark updates since August last year.

Among them, "Shame" and "Death Cycle" are both from Arkane Lyon Studio, but the team is currently working hard to develop "Marvel Blade", and the possibility of being unable to do anything is extremely high. Although players have been calling for the new work of "Shame" for many years, it may be difficult to achieve if multiple projects are promoted at the same time. Considering that these IPs are now under Microsoft, there is a possibility that other Xbox studios will take over the development, but given the unique style of each series, it is obviously more in line with expectations to create a sequel from the original team. IPs like Halo that can be expanded in multiple directions may be easier for external teams to take over.

On the other hand, the new work of "Wolfenstein" is also highly anticipated - after "New Giant" in 2017, "New Bloodline" has a mediocre reputation in 2019. Players expect MachineGames to draw a team to create "Wolfenstein 3" in addition to developing "Haizhe Ark".

However, these trademark applications may also be just conventional legal protection measures to ensure Microsoft's continued ownership of the relevant IP. It would be a surprise to announce one of the sequels at the press conference, but it would be unimaginable that the four models were released at the same time.
