Foreign media reveals that the first generation of "Nintendo Stars Fight" may be added to the NSO game library

Jul 07 2025

Nintendo Switch Online service may usher in the addition of "Nintendo Star Fight". This speculation originated from a tiny clue discovered by a sharp-eyed player in the official Nintendo video.

This potential revelation originated from the Switch 2 supporting promotional video released by Nintendo at the end of May 2025. The video introduces the functions of the new CRT filter, key remapping and rewinding added to the N64 game library. Reddit user Starfox6664 was the first to discover that in the clip demonstrating the CRT filter settings (about 40th second), elements that are highly consistent with the cover of the N64 version of "Nintendo Stars Battlegrounds" appeared in the lower right corner of the blurred background game cover - not only has the three-color logo, but also the same yellow blocky graphics where the original Pikachu is located.

More interesting is that user LukePS7013 further pointed out that there is a blurry image above the cover of "The Great Brawl" that resembles the cover of the 1998 classic game "Glover". This remake of N64 game, which was released in February 2025, is likely to become another work that will be available on both the eShop and NSO original game library after works such as "Shadowman" and "Dinosaur Hunter".

The first generation of "Nintendo Star Fight" is unique in the series of works with the long combo system brought by high stun value. Although the operating threshold is higher than the sequel, its unique combat experience is still worthy of the taste of the new generation of fighting game players. As a milestone IP, the addition of this game will undoubtedly greatly increase the value of the NSO game library.

Even if Nintendo did leak this time, the specific launch time of the game is still unpredictable. The pace of the Japanese game giant's update of the NSO game library has always been elusive.
