Bithell Games announces layoffs on most full-time employees

Aug 09 2025

Studio owner Mike Bitterhull wrote in a statement released on social media: "There is sad news today. Bithell Games will be reduced in size because it failed to win a new larger project. This means that 11 positions will be cut off, which accounts for the majority of our full-time employees."

"As our latest game is about to be released, it is already obvious: between 2024 and 2025, many game development teams face challenges in finding funding partners, and we are not spared. Fortunately, we informed everyone of these difficulties in advance and collaborated with affected employees as much as possible through resignation compensation and other means to facilitate their resignation."

Bithell Games' most well-known works include "Thomas Was" Alone, Tron: Catalyst and John Wick: Hex.

"This news will not affect the normal provision of our existing self-developed and spontaneous games and the continued support for these games. We are extremely grateful for the support of the players, and we hope that while paying attention to our works, we can continue to pay attention to the future development of these team members in other positions."
