"New Batman 2" script will be delivered next week. It was originally planned to be a year and a half ahead of schedule.
Three years have passed since the release of the first "New Batman" movie. It is reported that screenwriter and director Matt Reeves will deliver the script for "New Batman 2" to DC and Warner Bros. next week.
According to Puck News, the script is scheduled to be submitted next Monday, but DC co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran previously expected the script to be completed a year and a half ago. If everything is "going well", the film will be put into production in 2026 and will be released as scheduled on October 1, 2027.
The "New Batman" released in 2022 was a great success in both reputation and box office. Robert Pattinson plays Bruce Wayne (Batman), who teams up with Selena Kyle (Catwoman, Zoe Kravitz) to shoulder the task of foiling the Ridder Man (Paul Dano), who is planning a full-scale terrorist attack on Gotham City.
The film won a global box office of US$772 million with a budget of US$200 million, received three Oscar nominations, and was approved for development of a sequel almost immediately after the screening.
Some fans have worried that the sequel may be cancelled as Gunn and Safran take over DC, but the upcoming "New Batman" and "Penguin Man" and Mike Flanagan's "Must Man" will have a different worldview from the new DC Universe (DCEU).
"New Batman 2" is scheduled to be released on October 1, 2027, which is postponed from the previously reported schedule in October 2025.
