Beyond Apple! Snapdragon 8 EliteGen 50% of the current highest score mobile phone chip
Qualcomm officially released its latest flagship mobile platform Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in September this year. The running score data released by Durga Malladi, the company's senior vice president, on social platforms showed that the chip achieved 3832 points in single-core and 12329 points in the Geekbench 6.4 test. This multi-core score surpasses the Apple A19 Pro chip (its multi-core score is about 11,000 points), becoming the mobile phone chip with the highest running score at present.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 adopts TSMC's N3P 3nm process technology, is equipped with the third-generation Oryon CPU core, and adopts a "2+6" cluster architecture, including two super-large cores with a running frequency of up to 4.6GHz and six large cores with a running frequency of 3.62GHz. Qualcomm officially said that its CPU performance has increased by 20% compared with its previous generation and its energy efficiency has increased by 35%.
In terms of graphics processing, the chip integrates the Adreno 840 GPU, adopts an innovative architecture called "Shash" and is equipped with a dedicated cache dedicated to developers' calls. Qualcomm named it "Adreno High Performance Memory", which can reduce power consumption by up to 10%. The maximum clock frequency of this GPU is 1.20GHz, which is an improvement over the 1.10GHz of the previous Adreno 830, bringing about 23% graphics performance growth and 20% energy consumption reduction. It supports Unreal Engine 5, and Qualcomm has cooperated with game developers such as Tencent to optimize games for this platform.
In terms of AI capabilities, the performance of the new generation of Hexagon NPU is improved by 37%, which can perform complex multimodal inference at lower power consumption and support running more complex large language models on the device side. In terms of connectivity, the platform is equipped with Qualcomm X85 5G modem and supports Wi-Fi 7's FastConnect 7900 wireless connection system. Officially, it can reduce gaming latency by 50%.
It is reported that the Xiaomi 17 series has been confirmed to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform for the first time, and flagship models such as Samsung Galaxy S26 series and OnePlus 13 are also planned to be adopted later. The launch of this chip marks a new height in mobile chip performance in the Android camp and is expected to bring stronger computing power and richer user experience to future flagship smartphones.
