National new energy vehicle sales will exceed 10 million in 2025! BYD leads the way

According to data from the Passenger Car Association Branch, from January to September 2025, the cumulative wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicle manufacturers across the country reached 10.446 million units, a year-on-year increase of 32%, and successfully exceeded the 10 million unit mark. In September, the wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles nationwide are expected to be 1.5 million units, a year-on-year increase of 22% and a month-on-month increase of 16%, providing strong support for the annual total sales to exceed the 10 million mark.

This outstanding achievement is inseparable from the joint promotion of many factors. From the perspective of market environment, there will be 22 working days in September 2025, which is the same as last year. Since the Mid-Autumn Festival overlaps with the National Day holiday, market popularity has increased compared with the same period last year.

At the policy level, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has teamed up with multiple departments to regulate the competition order in the new energy vehicle industry and has achieved remarkable results. In addition, the dual role of trade-in policies and local stimulus policies has led to a rebound in market enthusiasm.

Car companies also performed well. In September, the new energy wholesale sales of Geely, Changan, Leapao, Dongfeng, Xiaomi, Xpeng and many other manufacturers hit a record high. Among them, BYD ranked first with sales of 393,060 vehicles, followed by Geely (165,201 vehicles) and Changan (97,096 vehicles). The performance of the leading car companies was very stable.

At the same time, the breakthroughs in the electrification process of major car companies and the launch of hot new products, coupled with the strong growth in the export of new energy vehicles, have jointly promoted the car market to show a situation of structural high growth.
