"Fallout 76" confirms that there is no cross-platform plan yet! It is said that the technical threshold is too high
The development team of "Fallout 76" recently brought disappointing news to players looking forward to cross-platform features. Creative Director John Rush and Production Director Bill Lacost revealed in preparation for the "Foot of Burning" update that the seven-year-old game will likely never add cross-platform online capabilities.
Since its publication in 2018, Fallout 76 has gone through a long path of development. The game world, which initially appeared empty due to the complete lack of human NPCs, has been gradually improved through important content such as "Wastelander" updates. However, in a recent roundtable interview, the two directors made it clear that although cross-platform and cross-progress archive functions are frequently mentioned, the development team currently has no relevant plans.
Lacost explained that for games that have been in operation for seven years, the introduction of such major features will face "huge technical obstacles". This type of infrastructure needs to be planned and built in the early stages of game development. While technically not entirely unfeasible, the team is more inclined to create new content for the existing player community. Rush added that the team will discuss the issue regularly, which is not a flat veto, but it is by no means a positive answer.
Although there is no hope for cross-platform, players can still look forward to the exciting content that is coming. The next update will launch a new mission area and reward system, which will also introduce the popular character "Ghoul" in the Amazon "Fallout" series. Although early preview reviews are positive, players still need to wait until December to update and install before they can personally verify the quality of these new content.
