According to media reports, a large number of giant mushrooms appeared in a cornfield in Liyuzhou Village, Wanggao Town, Pinggui District, Hezhou City, Guangxi, which attracted the attention of local residents.

According to the discoverer Ms. Zhou, these mushrooms are huge and densely grown. The largest clump is more than 45 cm in height and requires four people to work together to lift it.

Ms. Zhou immediately called her friend to pick it with her and recorded this rare scene with her mobile phone. As can be seen from the video, these mushrooms are scattered in the cornfield in clumps, and some of the mushrooms have a wide cap and are very eye-catching in shape.

However, local food safety experts issued an emergency reminder: Wild mushrooms have extremely high consumption risks. Experts pointed out that the growth environment of wild mushrooms is complex and changeable, and even the same bush mushrooms may contain highly drug species. What is more noteworthy is that some originally non-toxic wild mushrooms may be toxic due to environmental or genetic mutations.

Data shows that in 2024, 12 foodborne disease outbreaks occurred in Hezhou City, 10 of which were caused by accidental consuming poisonous mushrooms, and one person has died.

Experts stress that there is currently no simple and reliable way to identify whether wild mushrooms are poisonous. It is recommended that citizens "do not pick, buy, or eat" wild mushrooms of unknown origin to prevent poisoning incidents.
