Foreign media say that Switch2 has poor battery life! Not very similar to handheld machine, more like a portable host
Foreign media thegamer recently analyzed the changes in the product positioning of Nintendo Switch 2. The report pointed out that the model has significantly improved performance, including supporting the operation of 3A masterpieces such as "Cyberpunk 2077", handheld mode HDR display, and base mode 4K output, while maintaining the original portability.
However, the battery life of this model is worrying. Official data shows that the Switch 2 handheld mode battery life is only 2-6.5 hours, which is not only lower than the Switch Lite (3-7 hours) and Switch OLED (4.5-9 hours), but also inferior to the Steam Deck OLED (3-12 hours). This is indeed a disappointment for a device that focuses on portability.
At the same time, the main upgrade features of Switch 2, such as picture quality improvement and Joy-Con mouse function, are more suitable for host mode. This design tendency has triggered users' thinking about the transformation of product positioning: Is Switch 2 moving from a hybrid positioning of "handheld as the main and host as the auxiliary" to a "host-oriented" direction?
Although an enhanced battery life version may be launched in the future, the current Switch 2 is more like a host device with portable functions.
