Increase power saving mode! PS5 system update: handle supports multi-device pairing

Sep 17 2025

Sony announced that it will launch a new system update for PlayStation 5. This upgrade will add multi-device pairing to the DualSense wireless controller and introduce a new "Power Saving Mode" option. Sony regularly improves the PS5 user experience through system updates, and this improvement will significantly improve the convenience of players' operations.

PS5 has always ranked first in the sales of this generation of consoles since its release in 2020. The latest statistics show that its global sales have exceeded 80 million units, significantly ahead of its competitor Xbox Series X/S, which sold about 32 million units in the same period.

The new system update includes two practical functions: players can now pair the DualSense controller to up to 4 devices at the same time, without repeating the pairing process every time they connect to the host, PC or mobile device. The specific operation method is: after disconnecting the USB connection cable, press the PS key and any action keys (×/□/△/○) at the same time to enter the pairing menu. In addition, the newly added "power saving mode" can effectively reduce the host's energy consumption by intelligently adjusting performance parameters.

The update will be pushed in batches starting from September 17. If it is not automatically updated, players can enter the [Settings]-[System]-[System Software]-[System Software Update]-[Settings] paths to manually install them.

Sony has launched a number of updates to PS5 this year: the "audio focus" function added in April allows players to enhance specific sound effects in the game, and the update in July mainly improves system stability. According to the well-known whistleblower in the industry, Sony may hold a new State of Play launch conference on September 24 or 25, and may display works such as "Wolverine" developed by the Insomnia Group, but the news has not been officially confirmed.
