Valve's SteamOS 3.7.8 update released last week provided official support for Lenovo Legion Go S handheld for the first time. Comparative tests conducted by a blogger yesterday showed that the handheld was significantly better than the Windows version when running SteamOS.

Test data from YouTube blogger Dave2D yesterday showed that Lenovo Legion Go S, which runs SteamOS, has significantly improved the frame rate performance compared to Windows in the three games: Cyberpunk 2077, Doom: Eternal and The Witcher 3, with the average frame rate of Cyberpunk 2077 increased by 13 frames.

The blogger also tested the battery life of Legion Go S and Steam Deck OLED. The former ran Windows system and the battery capacity was 55Wh, and the latter ran SteamOS and the battery capacity was 50Wh. As a result, Steam Deck, which had a smaller battery. In "Hedius", the battery life is more than twice that of Lenovo's handheld console, and the battery life of "Dead Cell" is more than 4 hours.

In addition to higher frame rates and longer battery life than the Windows version, the test video also shows that the Lenovo handheld console running SteamOS performs more stable and reliable in the wake-up/hibernation mechanism, and even if the Windows version removes redundant pre-installed software, it is difficult to achieve the smoothness of the former.

It is reported that Microsoft is cooperating with Asus to develop a new handheld console, and the interface is expected to simplify the operation of the handheld console and have a longer battery life.
