Recently, Nintendo, the United States issued an announcement that starting from August 3, 2025, the price of the Nintendo Switch product series in the United States will be adjusted. Kit Ellis, who served as senior U.S. PR manager and director of social media marketing, said in his latest video that the price increase was "probably good news" for Nintendo and Switch 2.

He said: "After the Switch price increases, users will be more inclined to buy new console Switch2. For Nintendo, new customers who purchase Switch 2 are more valuable than customer service that purchases old Switch."

In other words, the Switch will be discontinued one day, and the Switch 2 has just started and has been on the market for less than two months. Those who originally wanted to buy a Switch saw that the Switch after the price increase was only $50 cheaper than the Switch 2, so they would consider buying the Switch 2, especially the NS2 also supports backward compatibility.

Kit Ellis believes that through this price increase, Nintendo "found a way to make stable profits, even if it will make us ordinary players complain."
