Support Battle.com and GOG! Xbox app tests third-party launcher integration features
Xbox recently announced that it is testing a new feature for its PC app: allowing users to directly access third-party game launchers (including Battle.com and GOG Galaxy) through Microsoft's official apps. This feature is currently open to Xbox Insider members participating in the PC game preview program.
The Xbox PC application originally mainly provides game content within the Microsoft ecosystem, including the continuously expanding PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate game library (such as "Herdling" and the upcoming "Gears of War: Reload Edition"), supports XPlay Anywhere cross-platform project, and can be used as an Xbox cloud game launcher. This update will further expand its functional boundaries today.
Less than two months before the ROG Xbox Ally handheld console was launched, Xbox users were able to experience this innovative feature in advance. According to Microsoft's instructions, the updated Xbox PC app will add a "My Apps" section to the Game Library panel, which supports direct installation and launch of commonly used applications. Currently, this feature has been opened to the PC game preview program members, and the first supported applications include three major platforms: Battle.com, Microsoft Edge and GOG Galaxy.
Microsoft emphasizes that this feature is designed to improve the game management efficiency of Windows 11 handheld devices (such as ROG Xbox Ally). Although only three platforms are displayed at the moment, the My Apps page will gradually expand to support more stores. As for whether to be included in mainstream platforms such as Steam or Epic Games, it remains to be observed later.
The official has not announced the official launch time of the update. Given that Windows 11 has become Microsoft's most widely used operating system in 2025, the acceptance of this innovative feature among mainstream users is worth looking forward to.
