"Battlefield 6" starts with no support for SteamDeck! Switch version is not considered
Recently, EA Executive Vice President Vince Zampella confirmed in an interview with foreign media PCGamesN that "Battlefield 6" will not be able to run on Steam Deck when it is released, but he did not rule out that other PC handhelds may be supported in the future.
In the interview, PCGamesN asked whether this hard-core FPS could run on handheld machines such as ROG Ally or Steam Deck. Zampella initially hesitated, but then responded clearly: "It can't run on Steam Deck. I think it may run on some non-Steam Deck handheld platforms, but I think it may not be the best way to play this game."
Zampella did not disclose that it does not support Steam Deck's specific reason, but PCGamesN analysis believes that the problem may lie in the anti-cheating system EA Anti-Cheat, which is forced to be enabled by EA. The system is known to be incompatible with Linux, and Steam Deck runs Linux-based systems and relies on the Proton compatibility layer to support Windows games, so it is no surprise that Battlefield 6 won't run.
As for the handheld Switch 2, which is currently attracting much attention, Zampella said: "We are not doing the Switch version now. I am not saying that we will not do it in the future, but we are not considering this issue at the moment."
