Nintendo in the United States announced that its president and chief operating officer Doug Bowser will officially retire on December 31, 2025. At this point, his more than ten-year leadership career in the company will come to an end. Devon Pritchard, a long-time executive at the company, will take over this important position, and she has spent nearly two decades at Nintendo.

At a critical period of management handover, Nintendo also confirmed that Satoshi Shibata, director and executive director of Nintendo Co., Ltd., will also serve as the CEO of Nintendo in the United States, and will continue to assume the original responsibilities in Japan. Pritchard will join the Nintendo board of directors in the United States and become a member of the group's global executive team.

Doug Bowser's tenure witnessed many milestone and important moments in Nintendo. In 2017, the Nintendo Switch was successfully launched on the market; earlier this year, the Switch2 was also successfully released, and it set a record for the fastest sales speed in the history of game consoles at the beginning of its release. Under his leadership, the company's business has successfully expanded to new entertainment fields such as theme parks and movies, further enhancing the Nintendo brand's global influence.

Bowser reviewed his career in a statement, saying: "It is a lifelong honor for me to lead Nintendo in the United States. I am extremely proud of the team's achievements in business results and the quality experiences it brings to consumers." At the same time, he also expressed full confidence in Pritchard's succession.

Prichard is currently the executive vice president of Nintendo's revenue, marketing and user experience department. She has previously held key positions in many important areas such as markets, publisher relations and business affairs.

She said that in the future, she will be committed to creating more opportunities for fans to interact with Nintendo, involving multiple fields such as games, entertainment and retail. She also expressed her gratitude to Bowser for his careful guidance, saying: "Doug is a very outstanding mentor. I look forward to leading the company forward on the solid foundation he has laid."

Nintendo Co., Ltd. President Shuntaro Furukawa expressed his sincere gratitude to Bowser for his contribution to the company, fully affirming his efforts to enable Nintendo's games and characters to reach a wider audience, and was also full of confidence in Pritchard's leadership.

Bowser joined Nintendo in 2015, initially serving as vice president of sales, and replaced Reggie Fils-Aimé in 2019, officially becoming president and chief operating officer. His retirement also means that a decade-long leadership chapter of Nintendo, the United States, has officially come to an end.
