The boss comes forward to clarify the spyware storm in "Borderlands" and players still don't buy it

Recently, Gearbox Software issued a statement regarding the controversy caused by the parent company Take-Two's modification of the terms of service, denied that there was spyware in the "Borderlands" series of games.

The official emphasizes that data collection is only used to optimize gaming experience and compliance needs, including device information to ensure compatibility and personalized functions (such as the user name display).

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford added a response, saying that the game code has not been changed, and that EULA adjustments are within the scope of publisher decision-making, and reiterated that the software has no espionage. However, players' dissatisfaction with the February terms update continues to ferment. Since May, the Steam evaluation of the "Borderlands" series has dropped sharply to "mostly negative reviews", and some players accused the terms of allowing data monitoring in disguise.

The current reputation of the series has not yet recovered, and Gearbox is stepping up the development of "Borderlands 4", which is expected to be officially released in September.
