The remake order does not play according to common sense? Director of "Legend": Code sorting is the key
The remake of the classic RPG "Legend" series under Bandai Namco is progressing in an orderly manner. At the Tokyo Game Show recently held, series director Yusuke Toshizawa revealed that the order of launch of the remake is not arranged according to the original release time, but depends on the completion of technical preparation.
Yusuke Toshizawa pointed out that the biggest challenge facing the remake is that "the 30-year development history has led to extremely complex source code management." The development team needs to invest a lot of time and energy in collecting, organizing and analyzing original code.
Therefore, the order of launching remakes actually follows the principle of "technology first": "All remake projects are in synchronous evaluation. Which work's code is first completed and analyzed will be given priority and will enter the production stage."
This strategy brings opportunities and challenges at the same time. On the positive side, classic works of all generations have the opportunity to be reborn; on the other hand, not launching them in a timeline may confuse players in their plot understanding. Of course, Yusuke Toshizawa also added that if the player has not been exposed to the original work or has forgotten the relationship between the works, the impact will be much smaller.
