The first pure electric flying car is coming! Can fly 177 kilometers, take off and land vertically
Recently, American startup Alef Aeronautics announced that its world's first pure electric flying car, Model A, has begun testing operations at two airports, Half Moon Bay and Hollister, California.
Alef released the Model A prototype in 2022, and became the first flight car program to obtain the FAA's special airworthiness certification in less than a year. The Model A can travel 220 miles on the road and can fly 110 miles in the air, supporting vertical take-off and landing.
In February this year, Alef released a video showing the scene of a "ultra-light version" flying car spanning other vehicles and taking off vertically, marking the first time in history that "cars drive on the road and take off directly."
At present, Alef's flying car has received more than 3,300 pre-orders, with a starting price of about US$300,000 (about RMB 2.147 million). Users can make a reservation through the official website for a deposit of $150, or pay $1,500 to enter the priority delivery queue. The company has built pre-production models in California and is expected to officially deliver to customers next year.
