XGP price increase has just passed and full-screen advertising has appeared. No mention of the new price of $30 per month
Microsoft previously announced the price increase of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Only one day later, players have not yet recovered from the "good news" of the sudden price increase. When they start Xbox consoles, they enjoy the full-screen advertising bombardment of subscription services.
Industry insider Tom Warren tweeted that when players start Xbox consoles to prepare for the game, they may be forced to watch full-screen ads showing various interests of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, but these ads deliberately did not mention the new price of $29.99 per month.
The interval between price increase and advertising delivery is less than 24 hours, is it because the number of unsubscribers exceeded Microsoft's expectations, or is it part of the scheduled marketing strategy? It is not clear that such ads are only a single delivery, or will it become a fixed link every time the host is started.
XGP's pricing strategy of soaring 50% has sparked heated discussion. Even though the official emphasized that a number of new games will be added and the Fortnite Battle Pass will be included, such a staggering increase will still be difficult for most players to accept. Many users choose to unsubscribe because they cannot accept price increases, but Microsoft is obviously unwilling to sit idly by and watch the loss of users.
