Hardcore! Tesla FSD transplant 1966 Ford Mustang: Achieve Autonomous Driving

According to the auto blogger "Chang Yan", an overseas technology enthusiast successfully completed the world's first modification project to carry the FSD (fully autonomous driving) system on non-Tesla models.

The purpose of this modification is a 1966 Ford Mustang. The demo video released by the owner shows that he realized the remote summoning function through the Tesla mobile APP, and this classic sports car can independently complete turns and drive to the designated position.

It should be noted that this modification is not a simple system transplant. The owner removed the original car's traditional powertrain and instead used the electric drive system and FSD hardware of the Tesla Model 3. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with the same steering wheel and central control screen as the Cybertruck, making its interior style closer to modern Tesla models.

Despite the in-depth transformation, this Mustang, which has a retro appearance and cutting-edge technology, is still very visually impactful. Just imagine a classic sports car born in the 1960s driving independently on the road, which will inevitably become the focus of attention on the street.

The owner has not disclosed the specific calibration details of the vehicle FSD system. It is worth noting that Tesla’s official social account forwarded the video of the modification case, indirectly expressing its recognition of its technical feasibility.

In fact, Tesla has a positive attitude towards opening up FSD technology. The company's CEO Elon Musk once publicly stated that he was willing to provide technical support for other car companies to adopt FSD systems. However, if other manufacturers choose to equip FSD systems, they must equip designated hardware (such as HW4.0 chipset and related supporting equipment) in accordance with Tesla's technical specifications. This means considerable revenue from software and hardware sales for Tesla.
