"The Vampire Escape 2" New Clans still need to buy another one? Paradox admits mistake
From the moment developer The Chinese Room and publisher Paradox Interactive announced that two playable clans in Vampire: Vampire 2 will be locked in the first-day DLC priced at $21.99, fans of the series have reacted strongly.
Paradox has now acknowledged this negative reaction and announced that it will change its plans to no longer lock the Toledor and Lasombra clans in the $21.99 "Shadows and Silk" DLC, which is also available as part of the $99.99 luxury version of the game.
Although Paradox Interactive has not confirmed the specific content of this plan change, a statement issued by a community manager suggests that the two clans may be released as part of the base game without the need to purchase additional DLCs on the first day. The company also said it will release more details about the plan changes “as soon as possible”.
Community Manager DebbieElla wrote on the official game Discord channel: "We are listening to feedback on the access to the Rasmubra and Toledor clans, and will make adjustments to reflect these opinions before the game goes online." WCCFTech reported that the community manager also said: "We will share more relevant information as soon as possible. During this period, you can join our Twitch live broadcast tomorrow, and we will show more game content at that time!"
In "Vampire: Escaped Vampire", the clan is the closest existence to the career setting in this role-playing series. The clan to which the vampire belongs determines many aspects of the character, from its social status to more game-oriented factors, such as the types of abilities that are initially available and the initial attribute values. For example, in the first generation of Vampire: Vampire Escape, there are seven different clans, two of which - Makavai and Nosferatu, even have exclusive unique game mechanics and story elements.
"Vampire: Vampire 2" is expected to have a total of six clans at the time of release, four of which are available in the basic version of the game, and the other two are included in the "Shadows and Silk" DLC. The clans in the basic version of the game include Bruyal, Bannu Hakim, Tremer and Vanturu, while the clans in the DLC are Lasombra and Toledor.
The official decision to join the new clan in DLC was naturally strongly opposed by fans, because clan is regarded as one of the core elements of the game background, and even in board games, it also brings new stories and possibilities for gameplay. In the early game, the clans to which the player belongs is a key factor in what missions they can participate in, and some even have unique goals and clues about the main story of the game.
"Vampire: Vampire 2" will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms soon. After experiencing a turbulent development period and even the development team changed hands several times, the game is finally confirmed to be released on October 21.
