"Super Mario Galaxy" may be hard to get a start? Players are worried about supply
At last week's Nintendo Direct meeting "Nintendo Direct 2025.9.12", Nintendo announced that "Super Mario Galaxy" and "Super Mario Galaxy 2" will be logged on to Switch in a high-definition remake collection. Fans are worried that they can repeat the mistakes of "Super Mario 3D Collection" and cannot get the limited first release.
According to ResetEra user and whistleblower Wario64, some retailers including GameStop confirmed that the physical version of the collection will be "limited distribution" in the early stage of its release. Another game information account, NintenDeal, also said that it will be "hard to buy" when it first releases. Although it is not clear whether this is Nintendo's intentional limited quantity or simply the first batch of shipments is insufficient, the outside world is generally worried that players will find it difficult to buy on the release date.
This situation reminds people of the 2020 "Super Mario 3D Collection". This work was criticized not only for its shrinking content, but also adopted the "limited-time sales" strategy, which led to the physical version becoming a scarce product in the market. Although there is currently no sign that the Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 collection will be permanently limited, players are already worried about the long-term supply of the physical version.
The digital and physical versions of this collection are priced at US$70. Whether more physical versions will be added after the release remains to be further explained by Nintendo.
