The IP of "The Duskbloods" is completely owned by FromSoftware
At Nintendo's face-to-face meeting last week, FromSoftware announced its new work "The Duskbloods". ResetEra user "Red Kong XIX" found that FromSoftware has officially owned the intellectual property (IP) of "The Duskbloods", and speculated that FS's move may be to avoid situations like "The Curse of Blood".
As background information, there have been rumors that FromSoftware wants to make some kind of remake or replica of "The Curse of Blood", but Sony has the IP of the game, which has become a barrier to achieving this idea.
The trademark application that can be found on J-PlatPat shows that FromSoftware has almost all intellectual property rights in all aspects of the game "The Duskbloods", including distribution methods such as "game console memory card" to "disc", which ultimately means that whether to publish the game to other platforms depends entirely on FromSoftware's own wishes.
This also means that unlike Platinum Studios and the "Angel Hunter" series, FromSoftware seems to have complete autonomy in the distribution platform and distribution method of "The Duskbloods". The Duskbloods trademark application was filed as early as March, and the release date for the trademark application was earlier this month. This time, The Duskbloods will focus entirely on multiplayer games, and its gameplay not only includes players fighting against AI enemies, but also against other players. Each match of The Duskbloods will have up to 8 players involved, who are thrown into a complex world, not only against enemies but also compete with each other.
"The Duskbloods" will exclusively land on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform in 2026.
