Can't buy it! Analysts say Switch2 supply shortage continues until spring 2026

Jul 06 2025

Nintendo's Switch 2 was officially released on June 5, but it has been out of stock in many regions. According to foreign media Gamerant, analysts from Toyo Securities and UBS Securities recently evaluated that the supply shortage of Switch 2 may continue until the spring of 2026 or later.

Tongyang Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda and UBS analyst Zhai Yijia predict that the sales of the Switch 2 will exceed 6 million units in the first month after its listing. By March 2026, the total sales may reach 18 million units, and Hideki Yasuda even raised its expected sales to 20 million units.

Due to the serious shortage of Switch 2 in the Japanese market, some retailers have adopted a "first come first served" sales model, while Nintendo's official online store has launched a multi-round lottery purchase activity, randomly drawing purchase qualifications from millions of players who have registered for appointments. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa publicly apologized at the end of June for the shortage of supply. Japanese media pointed out that the shortage of stock mainly stems from the shortage of key semiconductor components.
