Assassin's Creed: Shadow's player count exceeded 5 million, and it only achieved great results in April.
Ubisoft recently announced that the number of players has exceeded the five million mark just four months after the release of Assassin's Creed. It was a remarkable achievement for this game that set the series backdrop in feudal Japan for the first time.
After experiencing a difficult period including "Star Wars: Outlaws", the performance of "Assassin's Creed" brought Ubisoft a much-needed victory. Although the game also faced some controversy before it was released, it attracted millions of players on its first day, and its player community has continued to grow since then. The release is the second largest start in the series' history, second only to 2020's Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
Ubisoft confirmed on social platform X that "Assassin's Creed" reached a milestone of five million players, which is not easy for a game that will be released in March 2025. It should be noted that since the game has also logged into the Ubisoft+ Premium subscription service, this number is not pure sales. However, combined with the strong sales performance of the game reported in Ubisoft's latest financial report, it can be said that Assassin's Creed: Shadow has delivered a solid report card for the company at this important moment.
The announcement also shared some interesting player data: among these five million "assassins", the players completed about 2 billion stealth kills in total, and the travel mileage exceeded one billion kilometers. The most smirkable data is that the number of animals players have masturbated during the game is as high as 38 million times.
Ubisoft's continued support for the game also helped the success of "Assassin's Creed: Shadow". Last month, the game update brought new story content and new ally characters. The game's first large-scale expansion, Claws of Awaji, is also scheduled to be launched later this year. In the post that announced the player’s milestone, Ubisoft also confirmed that “there will be an update this week”, which immediately gave fans new expectations.
