For a long time, platform exclusive strategies have occupied an important position in the gaming industry. Mainstream gaming platforms such as PS4 and Switch have relied on their high-quality first-party exclusive game lineup to successfully build a unique market competitive advantage.

However, in recent years, traditional exclusive works such as "Jedi 2" and "Gears of War" have successively landed on competitor platforms, triggering the industry's discussion on "whether the exclusive strategy is still necessary." A new survey released by the Cologne Games Show shows that most developers believe that the influence of the exclusive model is gradually weakening.

The Cologne Game Exhibition will officially open in late this month, and game developers from all over the world will gather to discuss industry trends. As an important part of the exhibition, the "Developer Conference" will focus on cutting-edge issues in the industry and share development experience and market insights.

In the questionnaire released by the conference, the developers' attitude towards "game exclusive" is eye-catching:

94% of developers believe that complete exclusiveness is no longer an ideal strategy

32% believe that the exclusive model may completely disappear in the future

34% It is expected that "limited-time exclusiveness" will become a more mainstream distribution method

Only 6% The developers still firmly believe that the exclusive strategy plays a key role

At present, Nintendo is the only platform among the three major console manufacturers that still adhere to the exclusive strategy, but the company has also ported some works such as "The Wonderful 101" to the PC platform.
