"AC Shadow" may add a higher difficulty mode: to meet the needs of hardcore players!

Mar 30 2025

At the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Jonathan Dumont, creative director of Assassin's Creed: Shadow, revealed to GamesRadar+ that the development team is continuously optimizing the game based on player opinions. This open world work with the Warring States Japan as its background, its difficulty setting has become the focus of recent player discussions.

The current game has three different difficulties: "simple/normal/expert", which are suitable for combat and stealth systems respectively. For example, after increasing the difficulty of stealth, the enemy's alertness will increase, and the player will not be able to move freely in the roof area.

Dumont said the team is evaluating whether to add higher difficulty options to meet the challenging needs of hardcore players.

In addition to the difficulty adjustment, Dumont emphasized that the team is focusing on dealing with constructive opinions put forward by players. The upcoming update will contain a large number of bug fixes and system optimizations, but the specific details have not been fully disclosed. "We can't meet all the demands, but there are multiple improvements in progress," the producer said. "Players will feel these changes in the coming months of updates."
