"Borderlands 4" CEO responds to performance issues: Only 0.04% of players are involved

　　Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford recently responded to the performance controversy caused by "Borderlands 4" on the PC platform. He said that the proportion of players who actually responded to the problem is far lower than the scale presented by social media and forum discussions, and online public opinion has "exaggerated" the generality of the problem to a certain extent.

Pitchford quoted company customer service data and said that at present, only about 1% of players have submitted technical support requests, more than half of which are Shift account-related issues, followed by host field of vision (FOV) adjustment and Twitch function abnormalities. Reports that really involve PC performance issues only account for 0.04% of the total, and only 0.009% of them were confirmed as valid issues, and the remaining 0.037% of cases have been solved by adjusting the graphics settings, etc.

He further pointed out that "in the Internet environment, even if it is just a thousand posts, it is easy to make people feel that 'everyone is experiencing problems'", and the real situation is often not the case. Pitchford recommends that players adjust the resolution and picture quality options appropriately according to their own hardware to improve game fluency.

However, according to Steam platform data, "Borderlands 4" has received 22,200 user reviews, of which the number of negative reviews is 7,770. Many players mentioned performance issues such as lag and frame drops in the reviews. Tests of foreign media PC Gamer also showed that this game has a certain degree of frame rate fluctuation and operational stuttering on PCs of different configurations.

Although many players with high-end hardware can still run the game smoothly, some viewpoints believe that "Borderlands 4" still has a gap compared with similar mainstream works in terms of performance optimization. Gearbox said that they will continue to pay attention to player feedback and further optimize game performance.
