Players questioned that "Overwatch 2" partial spray paint is made by AI, Blizzard firmly denies
Blizzard Entertainment firmly denies recent allegations that some spray paints were generated using AI in Overwatch 2. Some players pointed out in the X platform, Reddit and other communities that the cartoon-style spray paint of many newly launched heroes (including "Danqi", "Juno" and "Wuyang") in the game has suspected traces of AI generation.
For example, a user mentioned that there are "anomalies in hair and line art" in a certain back-to-back posture spray paint, while another user pointed out that "there are strange mistakes and strange details that professional artists in the industry are unlikely to make", such as the character Juno's left and right eyebrows appear above and below the hair respectively, which violates the logic of painting.
A Blizzard spokesperson responded through an official statement: "The spray paint mentioned is created by the artist."
This is not the first time that Blizzard is facing AI generation controversy related to Overwatch 2. In August this year, when the game's official X account was promoting its cooperation with Youtooz, it finally deleted the post because the background image of the post was questioned and included AI-generated content. The account subsequently clarified that the image was from an "e-commerce supplier" and emphasized that "the company's policy requires that all artistic content must be completed by human artists."
In addition, in April this year, Blizzard was accused of using AI to generate voice in the German version of Overwatch 2 and "Gundam". A Blizzard PR manager responded to denied this statement on the official forum and said that "some localized voice is temporarily unavailable due to technical adjustments."
