According to the latest industry reports, the sequel to the chapter-based adventure game "Strange Life: Double Exposure" jointly developed by Square Enix and Deck Nine Games has entered the development stage.

Deck Nine chief animator David Blanchette and cutscene designer Kyle Norlander both mentioned in their personal LinkedIn information that they are participating in an undisclosed project. Blanchette's resume shows that the work is scheduled to be released in 2025. After this information was exposed by the Reddit platform, former Deck Nine developer Lady DevHeart (net name) claimed that the project is actually a sequel to "Singular Life: Double Exposure".

LadyDevHeart proved its credibility as early as October 2024 by sharing the behind-the-scenes details of the development dilemma of "Double Exposure". The content of its leak was partially confirmed by another former Deck Nine developer in the same Reddit discussion post. According to her, the sequel is tentatively named "Strange Life: Double Exposure 2", and the actual release window is more likely to be postponed to 2026, rather than 2025 marked on Blanchette's resume. She emphasized that the sequel is the established content in the "Double Exposure" cooperation agreement signed by SE and Deck Nine, and the project plan has been clarified since the early stage.

This former developer also disclosed the internal turmoil of Deck Nine: After the last project was completed, the studio management gradually disbanded core departments such as animation, design, quality assurance (QA) and engineering. She pointed out that the studio leader failed to obtain a new project contract and finally chose to "completely disband" the development team in order to find a way out.
