Xbox Hardware Designer Review XSX/XSS: Not winning PS5 has nothing to do with hardware quality

In an interview with Windows Central recently, Microsoft Xbox hardware designer Carl Ledbetter reviewed his 30-year Microsoft career and Xbox Series X|S design history, and hinted that Microsoft will continue to explore the field of gaming hardware.

As a senior designer who has participated in classic designs such as Serial Mouse 2.0a, IntelliMouse, and Zune players, Carl leads the industrial design of Xbox One to this generation of consoles. He emphasized that the design concept always revolves around "minimal aesthetics + mature cooling", and pointed out that the Xbox Series X|S is Microsoft's most powerful gaming console on paper. Although it has not surpassed the PS5 due to multiple factors, the hardware quality is unreproachable.

Specific product design: Xbox Series X uses vertical tower shape to balance performance and heat dissipation, positioning "a high-performance console that seamlessly integrates the living room"; Xbox Series S becomes Xbox's unique logo through its black and white contrasting appearance, taking into account portability and heat dissipation efficiency. Carl concluded: "My design journey is not over yet", and Microsoft will continue to explore gaming hardware innovation.

Media comments believe that Microsoft's gaming hardware path still needs to break through the audience bottleneck, but we look forward to the Carl team bringing surprises in the future. According to previous news, AMD is collaborating with Microsoft to develop customized chips, which may provide technical support for the next generation of Xbox consoles and cross-platform devices.
