"Final Fantasy Strategy Edition RE" is released on sale 9.30! Full voice interpretation becomes a highlight
The remake of the Square Enix classic strategy war game "Final Fantasy Tactics" announced today the release date and new real-life details. The game will be officially launched on the PS5/PS4/Switch/Switch 2/Xbox Series X|S/PC platform on September 30, reshaping the epic war on the Ivalis continent for players with high-definition picture quality and full voice interpretation.
As a "high-definition replica" of the early 1997 works, this remake did not make drastic reforms to the core gameplay, but focused on picture upgrades and immersion enhancement. The game retains the classic "ATB turn-based war chess" system: battlefield characters determine the order of action according to their speed values, and can perform one move and one skill release (attack/recovery/assistance) in each turn. Old players can get started seamlessly, and new players can quickly integrate into the depth of strategy through clear mechanism design.
One of the core selling points of SE's remake this time is to realize the full text pronunciation in the game. From the main plot to the side dialogue, and even the end-of-life lines when the character dies are all equipped with professional voiceover. According to the actual machine demonstration, the monotonous electronic sound of the mechanical unit when it was killed in the original work was redesigned as a tragic mechanical wail in the remake. Combined with the special effects of metal wreckage under high-definition materials, the cruelty of the battlefield is vividly displayed on the screen.
The development team revealed that the full voice recording took more than two years, and the main plot dubbing volume exceeded 100,000 words, and the original voice actor was invited to return to ensure that the voice of classic characters (such as Ramza and Ovilia) was consistent with 28 years ago.
In terms of the picture, the game scene and character model have been fully upgraded to 4K resolution, and the masonry texture of the classic map "Lion City" and the mechanical details of the "magic weapon" are clearly visible. In addition, SE optimized the shooting language of cutscenes for modern hardware. Important plot scenes use dynamic mirroring and facial capture technology, and the character's micro-expressions can be presented.
Although SE emphasizes "faithful restoration", some players question the amplitude of the change of "only high-definition + full voice". In response, producer Yasuhiro Matsuda also responded in an interview: "We hope to retain the purest strategic fun of the war chess game, while making the story more infectious through modern technology."
At present, the game has been pre-sale on major platforms, and the digital luxury version will be equipped with the first generation of OST digital soundtrack and limited weapon skins. As the release date approaches, this 28-year-old war of Ivalis will soon reignite the enthusiasm of strategy game enthusiasts in a new posture.
