"God of God 2" developers lay off employees! But it did not affect the core development team
Game developer Hi-Rez Studios recently completed a new round of organizational structure adjustments. Unlike in the past, this personnel optimization is concentrated on the senior management team, and the R&D department of the core game "Smite 2" has not been affected.
According to the new project leader Alex Cantatore (in-game codename Killgoon), to the media, former CEO Stew Chisam, executive producer Travis Brown and senior employee Radar have officially resigned. Cantatore explained that the management adjustment was due to the conclusion of the board of directors' evaluation - there is a structural mismatch between the current executive configuration and the actual scale of the company, but emphasized that "this change will never affect the core strategic direction of "God of God 2", and all members of the development team will still maintain stable operation."
In response to the game progress issues that players are concerned about, Cantatore has made three commitments: First, the pace of game content iteration will maintain the existing standards, and the frequency of launching new gods every two weeks will be maintained; Second, the team will continue to optimize the core gameplay and the guidance system for beginners; Third, the current focus of R&D has shifted from the basic framework to the user growth strategy, "We have just completed the fine polishing of the core mechanism of the game, and now we have sufficient conditions to focus on the optimization work required for market expansion."
For the reasons for the personnel changes to be handled in a low-key manner, Cantatore said: "For the respect of our colleagues, we chose the parties to issue a statement independently." But he also reiterated his personal firm confidence in the project: "Although it is inconvenient to disclose specific data, the team is progressing steadily on a daily basis. I firmly believe that "God of God 2" still has considerable growth potential, which is also a key factor in my choice to continue to stick to my post."
